Li Hongwu, 28, a foreign language interpreter at the Physical Culture and Sports Commission of Yunnan Province, had been a hard worker before he started to practice "Falun Gong" in 1997. He was frightened by Li Hongzhi's fallacies that mankind and the earth would be destroyed again and he had Li Hongzh's law-body behind him. Li Hongwu said to his wife: "Let's divorce. Anyway the next year (1999) will be the doomsday of the world." He committed suicide several times but survived the attempts. At noon on August 10, 1998, he again cut his wrist and was saved again. Then he told his mother, "Master Li came to force me to die." That very afternoon he jumped from a several-hundred-meter- high cliff and died there and then.

Li Hongzhi said in his Zhuan Falun, a book full of absurdities and fallacies, "Mankind has been on the verge of total destruction 81 times. Man's living space and the many other spaces are all in a most dangerous situation." He also said: "The earth has exploded twice. It will explode again at the end of the 20th century and the specific time of the explosion will be fixed by me." "My 'Falun Gong' can control this layer of material and prevent its explosion." He also said that "I have countless law-bodies. Every one of the 'Falun Gong' practitioners has my law-body behind him. My law-bodies know clearly what you are thinking of."

One year after Li Hongwu's death, his three-year-old daughter wants to see her father, pointing at his picture. The scene made people around all shed tears.
