On August 26, 2006, Zhong Weijian, a Hong Kong practitioner obsessed with Falun Gong, got hurt by accident when he joined in Falun Gong activity, as a result, his right foot was seriously swollen and he had a continuous high fever. Zhong was strict with himself to earnestly follow Li Hongzhi's theory that true disciples wouldn't fall ill and need no medical treatment. So he rejected medical help firmly and cultivated at home alone.

At 3:00 p.m. on September 14, Zhong Weijian was found in a coma at home and was sent to hospital by ambulance at once. Then he was confirmed dead. After forensic examination, the preliminary confirmation was that Zhong's death was due to bacterial infection without timely treatment.
